Named for the inn in Chaucer's Canterbury Tales, The Tabard Inn has been a Dupont Circle landmark since 1922.

It is Washington's oldest continuously operating hotel — and one of the only majority employee-owned hospitality properties in the United States.
Thirty-two uniquely appointed rooms are spread across three connected historic townhouses listed on the National Register of Historic Places. No two rooms are alike. There are no TVs. What you will find: original art on every wall, mismatched furniture with a story, and the kind of character that no designer could manufacture. The Tabard was featured on Accidentally Wes Anderson for a reason.
The restaurant is a destination in its own right. Chef-driven seasonal cuisine is served fireside in the lounge, in the candlelit dining room, and on the beloved garden patio. The famous $2 house-made cinnamon sugar donuts have earned a cult following. Live jazz every Sunday and Monday has been a neighborhood tradition for years.
Pet-friendly. Walk to Dupont Circle Metro, galleries, bookshops, and Embassy Row. Whether you are visiting for a long weekend, celebrating an occasion, or simply looking for a place that feels nothing like a chain hotel, the Tabard Inn is Washington at its most authentic.
