Congratulations on your growing family, pregnancy is such a beautiful and exciting time!
I recently read a quote that said "It's okay to be scared. Being scared means you are about to do something really, really brave." Yes, sometimes the idea of labor and birth can be very scary when you don't know what to expect! But I also believe that birth is beautiful, empowering, and something that your body was created to accomplish!
When I was pregnant with my first, I attended any and every class offered through my hospital. It helped inform me and affirm how I wanted to give birth and helped take away some of that fear. Like most, I had my bag packed and birth plan reviewed and ready to go. And like most, my birth plan did not go exactly as planned – we can’t always predict how baby’s journey into this world will look like. When things were rapidly changing during my labor, some of my tension and fears were eased because of the knowledge I had gained in those classes. This is why I firmly believe that childbirth preparation classes are an important tool for every expectant family!
My wild, strong-willed and beautiful son was born in 2016 and was my motivation to change my career path. I found comfort from friends who were more professionally trained in the birth world and strongly felt an urge to be part of that world to help other families! Since childhood I knew that I wanted to teach and work in a way that served others in my community. I have a BA in Psychology and worked as a Registered Behavior Technician for 5 years providing ABA services for children with Autism as well as a Respite Caregiver for children with disabilities since 2014. I am a Certified Childbirth Educator through ICEA and a Certified Lactation Educator and Counselor through UC San Diego. In the future, I would love to add Marriage and Family Therapy to my credentials, to assist new families in the post-partum period.
I offer private and semi-private childbirth and breastfeeding classes throughout the Greater Sacramento Area.
