There was a study recently done on patients with Alzheimer’s that showed that the last images that will leave your mind are the death of your parents and the births of your children. Another childbirth educator said that during a class I was observing and it stuck with me so profoundly. Childbirth is such an important passageway for every woman and an experience that is unparalleled.
It may sound cliché, but after having my daughter, I felt like I had found my calling. Birth helped me heal from the trauma my body and mind experienced coming off of the birth control pill. Knowing my options, having the right support in place, and feeling strong and in control allowed me to come out of my first pregnancy and birth with a newfound sense of strength and purpose and it was then that I decided to pursue becoming a childbirth educator.
Sacramento Childbirth Choices:
I am certified through ICEA (International Childbirth Educator Association). My philosophy of birth is that it is a normal, beautiful, powerful and physiologic process and that ALL families have the absolute right to knowledge about all of the choices and options they have when it comes to pregnancy and childbirth. It is only with this knowledge that you can make informed decisions about your care.
Currently I offer semi-private and private childbirth classes in the Greater Sacramento area. Classes are fun, encouraging, informative and inspiring! Due to the small group nature, couples get to know one another better and get more hands on practice and assistance. I can also tailor classes to your specific needs. Feel free to contact me for more information.
The Postpartum Podcast:
The podcast is a semi-weekly podcast where I interview moms and birth professionals about their postpartum stories. The podcast was a passion project conceived when my daughter was just a few months old and I was seeking connection with other moms going through similar situations as a way to support one another and help other moms feel that they are a little bit less alone. I am always looking for future guests, so if you or anyone you know would like to be a guest on the show, don’t hesitate to reach out. You can find the show wherever you listen to podcasts or at www.postpartumpodcast.com .
