jennipher cowell | birth doula
I am an educator and a lifelong learner. A doula, student midwife, sister, daughter, and friend. But first and foremost, I'm a wife and proud, homeschooling mama of four amazing kids. They truly are my greatest adventure. I'm blessed to be able to stay home with them the majority of the time while still having the privilege to follow my passion and reach my goals.
Like many birth workers, my journey on this amazing adventure began after the birth of my first child. My desire to help women make a gentle transition into their roles as new mamas was born in 2001 and has continued to grow and evolve. It has been a great privilege to support over 250 women through their labors. My passion is to be present for women and their partners during a time that is innately intimate and profound.
I believe that birth is a normal physiological process and that women are stronger than we give ourselves credit for. I believe that with the appropriate education, care, and support, it is possible to have a birth that you can look back on as one of the most joyful and powerful experiences of your life. It is an honor to be trusted to share in this sacred experience, and a joy to witness the birth of not only a new baby but a new family.
I received my initial training in 2003 through Doulas of North America (DONA). I then completed my Advanced Doula Certification in 2004 and became certified in Hypnosis for Childbirth through the Palo Alto School of Hypnotherapy. I am trained and certified in Neonatal Resuscitation, and I am currently pursuing my Bachelor of Science in Midwifery through the National College of Midwifery.
